Dubai, UAE – Authorities in Dubai have announced the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the Sharia fatwa system, a move aimed at enhancing religious services and expediting the issuance of fatwas. This initiative aligns with the emirate’s ongoing digital transformation across various sectors.
The relevant authorities confirmed that the new system utilizes big data analytics and Arabic language processing technologies. This enables rapid access to thousands of documented fatwas and jurisprudential opinions, empowering muftis and Sharia scholars to provide accurate and reliable answers to the public.
She explained that the use of artificial intelligence is not intended to replace the role of scholars or muftis, but rather serves as a supportive tool to help them review religious sources and provide information more quickly and systematically. However, the established religious and scholarly standards for issuing fatwas are maintained.
Officials indicated that this step reflects Dubai’s commitment to employing modern technologies to serve the community and enhance the quality of religious services. Furthermore, it facilitates public access to reliable fatwas and provides immediate answers to religious inquiries.
This initiative is part of broader efforts to develop the religious system in the emirate. Dubai seeks to leverage advanced technologies to support institutional work and deliver innovative services that meet the needs of society in the digital age.
