Voice of the Emirates – Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jin-Sun Huang participated in a session on progress in artificial intelligence at the joint US-Saudi investment summit, according to Reuters.
The meeting aims to discuss the emerging forces shaping the next wave of technological innovation. It will also explore the structures, models, and investments that enable the building of a smarter, more connected future.
This comes after a trilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Musk during a dinner at the White House on Tuesday evening. It is Musk’s second public appearance with Trump this year, following previous tensions between them.
A senior White House official told Time magazine that the summit would include discussions on deals worth billions of dollars. These include Saudi investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. Cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and enhanced defense cooperation through the purchase of advanced weapons will also be addressed. In addition, there are $600 billion in Saudi investments in specific sectors.
As part of its Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is seeking to sign strategic artificial intelligence deals with the United States to diversify its economy and strengthen its regional position. It also aims to acquire licenses to purchase advanced computer chips, potentially positioning itself as a global AI hub. This could enhance its competitiveness with the UAE.
During Trump’s visit to the Middle East last May, discussions were reportedly held regarding the export of large quantities of semiconductor chips. These chips are essential components for artificial intelligence data centers and advanced weaponry. Granting export licenses represents a significant step in the White House’s foreign policy.
Regarding international relations, international relations analyst Shayan Samiei believes that Saudi Arabia is seeking to redefine its relationship with the United States and reduce its unilateral dependence on it. While maintaining American security and military support, it is expanding economic and energy cooperation with China and Russia to diversify its future trajectory.
