Amman, Jordan – In a decisive move to protect the Kingdom’s sovereignty and airspace security, the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – announced that its air defense systems intercepted ten Iranian missiles that penetrated Jordanian airspace and were targeting the Kingdom’s territory early Saturday morning. The Armed Forces successfully intercepted and downed all of these missiles. They also affirmed their high level of readiness to deal with any potential threats.

Citizens’ safety and the protection of sovereignty

A responsible military source confirmed that the interception operation was conducted in accordance with the highest operational standards and defensive measures adopted by the Armed Forces, with the aim of preserving the security of Jordanian airspace and ensuring the safety of citizens and residents within the Kingdom.

The source emphasized that the Jordanian state places the security of its borders and national sovereignty at the forefront of its priorities. It also will not permit any violations that could endanger the lives of citizens or infrastructure.

No injuries or material damage

In an effort to reassure the public, the military source confirmed that the interception and downing operations carried out by the air defenses resulted in no civilian casualties. No property damage was also reported. Immediately after the incident, Royal Engineering Corps teams were deployed to the locations where missile fragments had landed. They commenced their tasks of conducting field surveys and securing the affected areas, in accordance with specialized technical and security procedures to ensure the sites were clear of any remnants that could pose a threat.

Continuous readiness and close monitoring

The source indicated that the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – continue their mission of monitoring Jordanian airspace around the clock and are closely following the rapidly evolving regional developments. It affirmed that the Armed Forces are at the highest levels of readiness and preparedness to confront any threat. It also emphasized their full commitment to the established rules of engagement.

A call to obtain information from official sources

The source concluded by addressing an important message to citizens, urging them to obtain news and information only from official sources and to disregard rumors that may circulate during times of tension. He also called on everyone to refrain from sharing unreliable news or unofficial, inaccurate videos. He affirmed that the relevant authorities will continue to provide citizens with all necessary updates through official channels to ensure the truth is conveyed with complete transparency and responsibility.
