Damascus, Syria—Social media platforms today circulated a video attributed to a group known as Saraiya Ansar al-Sunna, classified as an extremist terrorist organization.

Particularly in the governorates of Homs, Hama, Latakia, and Tartus.

and The recording shows a member of Saraiya Ansar al-Sunna wearing military uniform and carrying the organization’s emblem.

Threatening what he described as “launching operations from the Emirate of Homs” until “Islam prevails,” in his words,

And raised the banner “There is no god but God” over the coastal and central Syrian cities.

Background on the group

Saraiya Ansar al-Sunna is a newly formed extremist group that first appeared in February 2025 through electronic channels on the Telegram app.

The latest recording shows a dangerous escalation in the tone of Saraya Ansar al-Sunna, as it openly declares its intention to use car bombs and suicide bombers.

This is to target schools, churches, and residential areas in coastal and central regions.

These threats are part of sectarian rhetoric that justifies violence as “revenge for state support”.

For the religious components targeted, as stated in its promotional publications.

These threats come at a sensitive time when the Syrian state is seeking to restore stability to areas that have been the scene of conflict for years.

and The latest video shows an escalation in propaganda aimed at stirring up sectarian strife and destabilizing security.

It also requires security and media mobilization to counter this type of extremist threat.
