Washington, DC – The US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that the United States is continuing to impose a “strict blockade” on Iranian ports.
This move reflects a clear escalation in military and economic pressure on Tehran, coinciding with ongoing tensions in the region.
A strategy to contain growing threats
The military official explained that the ongoing operations aim to restrict the movement of supplies and logistical capabilities linked to Iran.
He also confirmed that this measure is part of a broader strategy to contain what he described as “growing threats.”
This strategy aims to ensure the security of international navigation in vital waterways.
He noted that US forces are working in coordination with their allies to enhance maritime surveillance a
nd monitor any movements that could be used to support activities that Washington considers concerning.
He added that this blockade “will not be temporary” but is contingent on developments in Tehran’s behavior on the ground.
The door remains open for political solutions
In contrast, the Chief of Staff emphasized that the door remains open to political solutions,
but linked this to Iran’s willingness to change its approach.
He also affirmed that “pressure will continue” unless tangible progress is made toward de-escalation.
These statements come amid an unprecedented escalation in the pace of indirect confrontation.
Military movements intersect with an exchange of political messages,
leaving the region facing open scenarios ranging from further escalation to a return to the negotiating table.
