Dushanbe, Tajikistan – In its first official move regarding the escalating crisis in the region, the Tajik Foreign Ministry expressed its “deep concern” over the rising tensions in the Middle East. It also reiterated its opposition to any military action and its full support for peaceful solutions through diplomatic channels.

Highlights
  • A call to abide by international law
  • Sensitive timing and silence regarding “the Iranian interior”

A call to abide by international law

In its statement, Tajikistan issued a direct appeal, though without naming the parties, to both the United States and Iran. It called for adherence to the principles of the UN Charter and the rules of international law. Tajikistan emphasized its earnest commitment to preserving regional peace and stability, and to prioritizing dialogue to prevent the region from sliding into an imminent military confrontation.

Sensitive timing and silence regarding “the Iranian interior”

This statement comes at a sensitive time, amid growing speculation about a possible US attack on Iran. It also coincides with widespread protests that have swept Iranian cities since early 2025.
