Amman, Jordan – Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in a phone call, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression and the worsening humanitarian crisis. They also discussed key regional developments and their impact on the security and stability of the region. During the call, both ministers stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the protection of civilians, and the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid. They warned of the dangers of continued escalation and its potential regional repercussions that could extend beyond the Gaza Strip.
A shared position and a call for international action
Safadi and Fidan stressed the importance of unifying Arab, Islamic and international efforts to push for a cessation of aggression, stressing that a comprehensive political solution, based on the two-state solution, is the only way to achieve security and stability in the region.
Gaza is a hub for regional communications.
This contact comes within the framework of ongoing diplomatic coordination between Amman and Ankara, in light of the accelerating events in Gaza and the growing fears of the conflict widening, which threatens regional security and undermines the chances for peace.
Warning of the repercussions of escalation
Both sides warned that the continuation of Israeli aggression would deepen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and open the door to further regional tensions, stressing their countries’ full support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights in accordance with international law.
