Tokyo, Japan – Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi affirmed on Wednesday that Tokyo remains “always open to dialogue” with Beijing, amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
“China is an important neighbor for us, and we seek to build stable and constructive relations based on mutual understanding and respect,” Takaichi said at a press conference in the Japanese capital. She added, “Japan will not close its doors to any opportunities for dialogue with China. We always strive to strengthen diplomatic channels between the two countries.”
Tensions between Tokyo and Beijing have escalated in recent months amid disputes over trade and regional security. This has prompted Japan to bolster its diplomatic and military preparedness, while emphasizing the need to maintain continuous communication with Beijing.
This statement comes as part of Japan’s efforts to ease tensions. It also seeks to build a stable path of cooperation with China in various economic and political fields.
