Washington, DC – US President Donald Trump said that Venezuela’s move to close its airspace “should not be interpreted as a prelude to hostile action or a sign that it is about to be attacked,” stressing that the situation requires “a realistic assessment, not an alarmist one.”
Trump explained in a press statement that political tensions do not necessarily mean they will escalate into military confrontations. He noted that Washington is “monitoring developments but sees no indications of imminent military action.” He added that countries’ decisions to close their airspace may be related to “internal considerations or purely security measures.”
He stressed the need to address the differences with Caracas through dialogue and diplomacy, considering that “media escalation does not serve the stability of the region.”
