Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump will chair the peace summit in Gaza, Monday afternoon, in Sharm El-Sheikh.

This was attended by leaders from more than 20 countries, in addition to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Neither Israel nor Hamas will participate in the meeting.

Diplomatic sources reported that America, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey will sign a document of guarantees for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. This will occur during the upcoming summit.

It is noteworthy that delegations have begun arriving in Sharm El-Sheikh to attend the summit. The summit will begin on Monday afternoon in the city overlooking the Red Sea.

“Nile Necklace”

The Egyptian President decided to present his American counterpart with the Nile Necklace. This is in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to supporting peace efforts and defusing conflicts.

The latest of which is his pivotal role in stopping the war in Gaza.

The Nile Necklace is “the highest Egyptian decoration and the greatest in status and value. It has the first place among them”.

It is awarded to leaders and symbols of countries who contribute to serving the nation and humanity.

Regarding this summit, the Egyptian presidency indicated that the summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip. This was stated in a statement.

Absence of representatives of Israel and Hamas

Israel announced that it would not send any representative to the summit on peace in Gaza.

A spokeswoman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that “no Israeli official will attend”.

Hamas Political Bureau leader Hossam Badran also confirmed that the movement will not participate in the signing process.

In statements he made to Axios, US President Donald Trump described the Gaza agreement as perhaps his “greatest achievement”.

He said that the list of attendees at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit confirms that “the world is united on its plan for peace in Gaza”.

Trump considered the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit a very good thing.

Gaza administration on the agenda

The rule of the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by the two-year war, will be one of the topics of the summit. This will be discussed in the coming period.

The countries that mediated the ceasefire will sign a document guaranteeing its implementation, a diplomatic source told Agence France-Presse.

He said, on condition of anonymity, that “the signatories will be the guarantor parties, which are the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and perhaps Turkey”.

After the Egyptian Foreign Ministry indicated earlier that a document to end the war in Gaza would be signed during the summit. This summit will be chaired by the United States and Egypt.

Tens of thousands of dead

The Israeli war on Gaza has killed about 68,000 people, according to health authorities in the Gaza Strip.

The census shows that more than half of those killed were women and children.

1,219 people were killed in Hamas’ unprecedented attack on southern Israel, according to a toll based on official Israeli figures.
