Diplomatic moves led by European and Arab capitals in New York

Several delegations from Europe and the Arab world pushed for the adoption of UN resolutions strengthening recognition of Palestine. These steps represent a response to a long-awaited historical necessity.

Washington clings to its veto and faces isolation within the Security Council.

Despite the United States’ insistence on vetoing any resolution granting Palestine full membership, it finds itself facing a broad majority of member states. This majority views recognition as an indispensable step toward achieving peace.

Palestinian position: Recognition is a step towards historical justice.

The Palestinian leadership emphasized that these developments reflect a qualitative shift in the international position. It also noted that recognition is not a political favor, but rather the inherent right of a people living under occupation for decades.

Israel warns of “serious repercussions,” but the wave of support is growing.

In contrast, Israel has repeatedly warned of “serious repercussions” for the course of the negotiations. However, these warnings have not halted the expansion of international support for Palestine. This reflects a shift in the balance of positions within the United Nations.
