Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed his appreciation for Qatar’s supportive stance towards Lebanon. He praised the role of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in supporting the Lebanese state and the Lebanese army. Aoun emphasized that Qatari support is of great importance to Lebanon, especially given the delicate political, security, and economic circumstances the country is facing. He also stressed the importance of continuing to support official institutions and strengthening their ability to fulfill their duties.
The Lebanese president particularly praised the support provided to the army, as the institution responsible for protecting security and stability and preserving the state’s sovereignty. Aoun noted that strengthening its capabilities is essential in confronting the challenges facing Lebanon. Aoun’s remarks reflect the depth of relations between Lebanon and Qatar, given Doha’s commitment to continuing to stand by Beirut and support its stability and national institutions. Furthermore, Doha supports efforts aimed at overcoming the crises the country is experiencing.
