Kathmandu, Nepal – In a glimmer of hope amid the devastation caused by floods and landslides, rescue teams in Nepal pulled a six-year-old girl from the rubble of her home. The girl had been trapped for nearly 60 hours. Rescuers reached her after finding her amidst the debris and mud in the Temuri district of Rasua province in the north of the country. The floods and landslides had caused numerous houses to collapse and roads to be cut off. Furthermore, residential areas were isolated.

According to reports, hearing the child’s voices helped determine her location, so rescue teams began a cautious operation amid the rubble, which ended with her being brought out alive and transferred to receive medical care. The rescue operation came as search operations continued for survivors and missing persons as a result of the wave of floods and collapses that struck large areas in Nepal. At the same time, there were similar disasters in areas in China.

Rescue teams face significant challenges due to the mountainous terrain, the accumulation of mud and debris, and the ongoing risk of landslides and flash floods, making search and rescue operations extremely difficult. The discovery of the young girl alive after more than two days under the rubble has given rescue teams and families of the missing hope that more survivors may be found. Despite this, the scale of the devastation remains immense. Nepalese authorities are continuing rescue and debris removal operations, while emergency teams are working to reach areas still isolated due to damage to roads, bridges, and infrastructure.
