  • Complex Negotiations and Border Dynamics

Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed Beirut’s commitment to securing the release of all remaining Lebanese detainees held by Israel, emphasizing that the humanitarian issue is being addressed strictly through the mechanisms established under the framework agreement.

Framework Agreement and US Mediation

Aoun’s statements coincided with an expression of gratitude to the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon for ongoing diplomatic efforts that recently facilitated the release of several Lebanese detainees. The president underscored that resolving the prisoner file remains a top priority for Lebanese leadership alongside ongoing negotiations over border security and military redeployments.

He highlighted that adherence to the structured framework agreement aims to ensure the full repatriation of all Lebanese citizens and establish long-term security guarantees along the southern border.

Complex Negotiations and Border Dynamics

Ultimately, Aoun’s remarks come as Lebanon and Israel navigate delicate negotiations regarding complete Israeli troop withdrawals, cessation of hostilities, and Lebanese army deployments. Beirut continues to rely on Washington’s diplomatic mediation to translate the humanitarian and security provisions of the agreement into binding operational steps on the ground.
