Hodeidah, Yemen – Residents in the Yemeni city of Hodeidah reported hearing explosions in various parts of the city. This comes as clashes between government forces
and the Houthis have resumed in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Forming a unified Arab and international front
On the political front, the Yemeni government called for a shift from mere verbal
condemnations to concrete Arab solidarity on the ground, encompassing defense and trade.
It also urged the formation of a unified Arab and international front to counter the ongoing attacks,
which target the security of the Red Sea and global shipping lanes at the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Praise for the efforts of the Republic of Algeria
This came during the official address delivered by the Yemeni Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal,
at the 118th session of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.
The meeting was held at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo.
At the beginning of his address, the Minister congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on assuming the presidency of the current session.
He also commended the efforts of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
during its presidency of the previous session, and praised the excellent organization of the General Secretariat.
