Beijing, China – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that achieving security and stability cannot be based on confrontation and threats. He also stressed that trust, dialogue, and cooperation among nations are fundamental to building a more stable regional and international environment. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, Pezeshkian stated that current crises and challenges necessitate strengthening dialogue and moving away from policies of escalation and pressure. He further emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty and interests of nations.
The Iranian president noted that expanding cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, particularly in the economic, political, and security spheres, can contribute to addressing shared challenges. This, in turn, enhances regional stability. Pezeshkian emphasized that sustainable security is not achieved through displays of force or engaging in new confrontations, but rather through building mutual trust and opening channels of communication between different parties. The Iranian president’s remarks come amidst escalating regional and international tensions, as well as diplomatic efforts aimed at containing crises and seeking political solutions that avoid military escalation.
