Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its air defense forces successfully intercepted and shot down 54 Ukrainian drones in the past few hours. The drones were flying over several Russian regions and territories. The ministry stated that air defense systems engaged the Ukrainian drones within a specific timeframe and destroyed them before they reached their targets. The ministry added that the downed drones were fixed-wing aircraft.
The statement explained that the interceptions took place in several areas, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, and Rostov. Additionally, they encompassed Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Crimea, as well as areas over the Black Sea. The confrontation between Moscow and Kyiv is witnessing a continuous escalation in the use of drones, which have become one of the most prominent tools in the exchange of attacks. Meanwhile, Russia affirms its continued efforts to strengthen its air defense capabilities to counter any attacks targeting its territory.
