Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian military announced it killed 26 terrorists and repelled a major attack on an advanced military base in the town of Kadia, Borno State. Military sources confirmed that Sector 3 troops under Operation Hadin Kai intercepted the insurgent force overnight, leaving four soldiers wounded during the engagement. Furthermore, ground forces coordinated with the Nigerian Air Force to conduct swift tracking and strikes against fleeing combatants using real-time intelligence.

Precision Air Strikes and Weapons Recovery

Air units conducted two targeted strikes against retreating militants, with the first strike neutralizing 10 insurgents taking cover beneath foliage and the second eliminating 15 near the Tumbuns-Kangarwa axis. In addition, ground sweep operations recovered another body—bringing the total militant body count to 26—alongside 10 destroyed motorcycles and significant ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds and belt-fed PKT machine gun cartridges. Consequently, suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were forced into full retreat under heavy fire.

Strategic Corridor and Continuous Operations

The Kadia-Kangarwa corridor holds critical strategic value due to its proximity to the Lake Chad Basin and key transit channels used by armed groups. Meanwhile, military command emphasized that joint air and ground patrols will persist to disrupt supply lines and prevent ISWAP and Boko Haram elements from regrouping in traditional strongholds like the Sambisa forest. As a result, security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance to secure border areas and cut off logistical networks.

Ultimately, the successful defense of the Kadia base demonstrates the enhanced readiness and firepower of Nigerian counter-terrorism forces. In conclusion, sustained military pressure and intelligence coordination remain essential to curbing insurgent movements across the Lake Chad region.
