  • Directives Pausing Strikes and Sustained Military Readiness
  • Progress in Omani Mediation and De-escalation Prospects

Washington, United States – News platform Axios revealed that the U.S. military continues to prepare contingency plans for the potential resumption of major combat operations against Iran. However, U.S. President Donald Trump has not issued any orders to execute these plans, opting instead to grant the diplomatic track an additional opportunity to contain the crisis.

This direction unfolds amid intensive regional efforts aimed at reaching understandings that prevent a slide into wide-scale military escalation.

Directives Pausing Strikes and Sustained Military Readiness

Axios reported that Trump issued explicit directives to the U.S. military not to conduct new strikes against Iran, a move reflecting his intent to provide greater room for negotiations and peaceful solutions.

The report noted that this decision does not imply abandoning the military option, but rather postponing it temporarily pending the outcomes of ongoing political contacts. Meanwhile, military establishments continue drafting necessary scenarios to maintain peak readiness should field dynamics shift.

Progress in Omani Mediation and De-escalation Prospects

Citing regional sources, Axios highlighted a tangible possibility of reaching an agreement involving the Sultanate of Oman and Iran, driven by intensive talks held by a high-level Omani delegation in Tehran.

The report confirmed positive progress in these discussions, bolstering hopes of achieving a regional understanding that paves the way for de-escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and offers diplomacy a genuine chance to avert a new military confrontation in the Middle East.
