Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – In an urgent precautionary measure to raise the level of preparedness and enhance preventive measures, the Saudi Civil Defense announced on Saturday the activation of sirens and the early warning system in Yanbu Governorate to warn of an imminent danger, as part of the intensive efforts made by the competent authorities to follow up on field developments and surrounding regional developments.
Reports indicate that the Civil Defense had previously issued intensive alerts to residents of the Jazan region via the National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies, before these measures were reinforced to include Yanbu Governorate, in light of the ongoing security monitoring and assessment of the situation according to the approved plans.
Announcement that the danger has passed and things have returned to normal
In a subsequent development, the Saudi Civil Defense issued an official statement early Saturday morning, officially announcing that the danger had passed in both Yanbu Governorate and Jazan Region, following the end of the emergency situation that had prompted the activation of the early warning system. This step confirms the efficiency and readiness of the relevant authorities in responding quickly and effectively to crises and their continuous assessment of the situation to ensure everyone’s safety.
Strict instructions and a call to adhere to official guidelines
Despite the announcement that the danger has passed, the Saudi Civil Defense renewed its urgent calls to all citizens and residents in the two regions to continue to follow all instructions and guidelines issued by official authorities through approved channels.
The statement, published on the “X” platform, emphasized the importance of avoiding gatherings at vital locations or near monitoring areas, and of completely refraining from filming and sharing videos that could hinder the work of field teams. The General Directorate of Civil Defense also reiterated the importance of immediate communication in emergencies by calling the unified number (911) to receive necessary assistance.
