Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense forces thwarted a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack using more than 400 drones targeting Moscow and several other Russian regions. This was one of the largest drone attacks since the start of the war between the two countries.

In a statement, the ministry explained that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed most of the drones before they reached their targets. It confirmed that the attack involved several simultaneous waves targeting facilities and sites within the Moscow region. Other Russian regions were also targeted.

For his part, the mayor of Moscow confirmed that emergency teams and specialized services dealt with the aftermath of the drone crashes, noting that no significant damage to the capital’s infrastructure had been reported. Meanwhile, security agencies continue to assess the situation and take necessary measures.

This attack comes amid escalating tensions between Moscow and Kyiv, with continued exchanges of drone and missile strikes. The course of the conflict is witnessing rapid developments on the ground and an increasing use of long-range weapons, reflecting a continued military escalation between the two sides with no signs of a near-term breakthrough.
