  • Fires Engulf Oil Depots in Stavropol
  • Official Confirmations and No Reported Casualties

Russian authorities announced today that Ukrainian drone attacks targeted facilities belonging to the oil industry in the south of the country, leading to massive fires at several vital industrial sites. These strikes fall within Kyiv’s ongoing strategy to target Russia’s logistical and economic depth, with a heavy focus on the strategic energy sector.

Fires Engulf Oil Depots in Stavropol

Russian media reported that the attacks resulted in fires breaking out at three major oil depots in the Stavropol region, an area home to critical infrastructure linked to the Russian energy sector. Firefighting and civil defense teams are working intensively to control the raging blazes and prevent them from spreading to neighboring facilities, facing significant technical challenges due to the flammable nature of the petroleum materials.

Official Confirmations and No Reported Casualties

For his part, the Governor of the Stavropol region, Vladimir Vladimirov, confirmed that large explosions and fires occurred at industrial facilities as a result of the attacks, noting that relevant authorities began handling the incident immediately. Vladimirov reassured the public that preliminary information indicates no casualties among facility workers or nearby residents, while technical teams continue to assess the extent of the material damage and the structural integrity of the affected facilities.

Energy War of Attrition: These attacks are part of an escalating wave of reciprocal strikes between Moscow and Kyiv, which have seen a significant focus on targeting energy installations, infrastructure, and refineries within both countries’ territories. In the absence of any political settlement on the horizon, both sides continue to rely on drones and missiles as primary tools to weaken each other’s economic and logistical capabilities, driving up the economic cost of the war on both regional and global levels.
