Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed his deep sorrow and condolences following the Aramco helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia, which resulted in numerous deaths and injuries. He offered his sincere condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and also extended his sympathies to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi government, the Saudi people, and the families of the victims.
In an official statement, the Secretary-General affirmed that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during this difficult humanitarian crisis. He expressed the OIC’s full solidarity with all efforts undertaken by the relevant authorities to address the aftermath of the incident. He emphasized the organization’s support for providing necessary care to the injured and stressed the importance of investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
He noted that the incident has caused widespread grief within the Muslim world, given the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in the Islamic world. He further affirmed that the OIC shares the Saudi people’s sorrow and hopes that the Kingdom will overcome the effects of this tragedy as soon as possible.
He added that the organization appreciates the significant efforts undertaken by the Saudi authorities in the areas of safety and emergency response. He expressed his confidence in the ability of the relevant authorities to complete the investigations. Furthermore, he expressed his confidence that all necessary measures would be taken in accordance with the highest standards of security and safety.
The Secretary-General concluded his statement by praying to God Almighty to have mercy on the victims and grant them forgiveness. He also prayed that they be granted eternal peace in Paradise and that the injured receive a speedy recovery. He further asked God to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people from all harm and to grant them continued security and stability.
