Beirut, Lebanon – In a move indicating an escalation of military operations, the Israeli army issued urgent warnings on Sunday, June 14, 2026, to residents of dozens of villages and towns in southern Lebanon. The army ordered them to immediately evacuate their homes and head to areas north of the Zahrani River.
Evacuation orders include 42 towns
The wave of warnings began with the Israeli army announcing in an urgent statement this morning that it was targeting 13 villages and towns. The army then expanded the warnings to include an additional 29 villages and towns, bringing the total number of areas under evacuation orders to 42 in the Nabatieh and Sidon districts.
Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee called on residents to move at least 1,000 meters to open areas. He justified these measures by claiming that Hezbollah had violated the ceasefire agreement, which necessitated a “strong” Israeli military response.
Escalation of airstrikes and field operations
These warnings come amid a series of airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling by Israeli warplanes and artillery on wide areas in the districts of Nabatieh, Tyre, Bint Jbeil, Marjeyoun, Sidon, and Jezzine.
According to field reports, the past few hours have witnessed intensive drone activity, with drones carrying out a series of precise strikes. The reports also indicate that Israeli forces are continuing their ground operations aimed at destroying infrastructure and dismantling Hezbollah military positions in the areas they have entered.
Hezbollah’s reactions
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Hezbollah continues its fierce field clashes, announcing dozens of military operations against Israeli army positions and gatherings.
These operations included launching successive rocket barrages and using attack drones. This was done in an attempt to repel the Israeli incursion.
Fears of escalating clashes
These rapid developments on the ground coincide with an atmosphere of anticipation and caution, as the intensity of the airstrikes and the scale of the evacuation orders reflect international and regional concerns about the escalation of military confrontations in the region.
Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach a settlement, the reality on the ground indicates that both sides remain engaged in open conflict. This exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the southern villages, which have become almost deserted as a result of the continuous bombardment and the forced displacement of residents.
