Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Oun confirmed that military operations have not achieved tangible results. Consequently, he believes force alone cannot guarantee sustainable solutions for regional crises. Moreover, Oun stressed that the current phase requires a comprehensive re-evaluation of all proposed paths. As a result, negotiated solutions become the primary option to avoid further security and humanitarian deterioration. Thus, Oun calls for giving full opportunity to diplomatic tracks.
General Oun’s Vision for the Future of Negotiation Paths
The Army Commander pointed to the need for extreme caution in handling tense situations. Accordingly, the Lebanese Army seeks to reach understandings that halt field escalation immediately. In addition, Oun confirmed that any settlement requires genuine political will from all involved parties. Conversely, negotiated solutions contribute to reducing tension and opening the door to stability. Therefore, Oun believes continued war serves no regional party’s interest.
Realism of Negotiated Solutions in the Current Phase
General Joseph Oun asserts that continuing armed conflict will not change political equations. On the other hand, negotiated solutions remain the most realistic and logical option at the current stage. Consequently, Oun demands prioritizing dialogue to overcome present challenges. Ultimately, political consensus leads to alleviating the suffering of peoples. Accordingly, the call for peace remains the foundation for reaching gradual stability in Lebanon and the region.
