Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the importance of adhering to the Lebanese government’s decisions aimed at restricting weapons to the state.

It also stressed the necessity of supporting Lebanese state institutions

and enabling them to exercise their full authority throughout the country.

The Saudi position comes amidst rapidly evolving security developments in Lebanon and the ongoing military escalation in the south.

This escalation has repercussions for regional security and stability.

Emphasis on implementing the Taif Agreement

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of adhering to the Taif Agreement as the fundamental framework

for regulating political life in Lebanon and strengthening the unity of the state and its institutions.

It affirmed that extending the sovereignty of the Lebanese state over all its territory is essential to ensuring security and stability.

This also strengthens the role of legitimate institutions in managing

the affairs of the country and protecting the interests of its citizens.

Supporting the sovereignty of the Lebanese state

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that supporting Lebanon

and its stability requires strengthening the authority of the state and its legitimate institutions,

ensuring its monopoly on the use of force and the decision of war and peace, in accordance with the Lebanese constitution and laws.

The Kingdom reiterated its support for Lebanon’s security, unity, and sovereignty.

It also emphasized the importance of concerted regional and international

efforts to support the Lebanese state in confronting current challenges.

Call to halt Israeli military expansion

Saudi Arabia also called on the international community to take effective steps

to end Israeli military actions aimed at expanding its control within Lebanese territory,

warning of the repercussions of continued escalation on the region’s security and stability.

It emphasized that the continuation of military operations and violations of Lebanese sovereignty

would increase tensions and threaten the prospects for reaching sustainable political solutions.

Therefore, it called for respect for international law and relevant international resolutions,

and for action to protect Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
