Kuwait – Kuwait was placed on high alert Monday morning following missile and drone attacks on its territory. This marks a serious escalation in the regional landscape. The Kuwaiti Army General Staff confirmed that air defenses successfully intercepted the attacks. It also reassured citizens and residents that the sounds of explosions heard across the country were the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile targets.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strongly worded statement condemning the attacks, describing them as “heinous and repeated.” The Ministry explained that these attacks represent a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter. Furthermore, these attacks constitute a direct violation of Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026. The Ministry emphasized that these practices not only threaten the security and stability of the country but also pose a grave danger to the safety of civilians and vital infrastructure.
The ministry also stressed in its statement Kuwait’s categorical rejection of these aggressive practices. It affirmed the state’s full and legitimate right to take all necessary measures to preserve its security and defend its territory and sovereignty. This coincided with the activation of air raid sirens across the country, amidst a state of anticipation and heightened alert.
