  • Shi’ism is an authentic component and older than “Wilayah” (guardianship/authority).

Manama, Bahrain – Bahraini Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is resolutely committed to protecting its security and stability. He also emphasized the firm stance against all Iranian proxies and their destructive schemes.

Al Khalifa commended the decisive and comprehensive measures taken by the government in this regard. He stressed that recent events have clearly revealed the true character of individuals, distinguishing between those who have chosen genuine loyalty to the nation and those who have chosen to align themselves with its enemies.

The “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist” project transcends borders

The Bahraini Minister of Interior addressed the brutal Iranian aggression targeting Bahrain and the Gulf states. He explained that the “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist” (Velayat-e Faqih) doctrine has transcended the bounds of religious authority, transforming into a transnational political project founded by Khomeini. He pointed out that this ideology ties the political allegiance of its followers to the ruling jurist in Iran, rather than to the countries in which they reside. This poses a direct threat to the sovereignty and stability of nations. He affirmed that Iranian policy has witnessed a hostile shift and blatant interference since 1979. Despite this, the Kingdom of Bahrain, since His Majesty the King assumed power in 1999, has adopted a pioneering national approach based on tolerance and a comprehensive pardon for all those who have wronged the nation.

Confronting the organization linked to the Revolutionary Guard

The Bahraini Interior Minister added that “the joy and support expressed by some for the hostile Iranian bombing of Bahrain cannot be forgotten.” This necessitated a radical and decisive response to Iran’s proxies, who formed an organization linked to the Revolutionary Guard. He explained that the state had long exercised patience with this organization and dealt with matters through forgiveness. However, its members persisted in their destructive schemes. They also worked to hijack the Shiite community’s will, transforming mourning ceremonies into centers for ideological indoctrination and recruitment, and building loyal militias trained in camps abroad.

Shi’ism is an authentic component and older than “Wilayah” (guardianship/authority).

In closing, the Bahraini Interior Minister emphasized that the Shia community is an integral part of Bahrain’s past, present, and future. He affirmed that the constitution and laws do not discriminate between citizens.

He pointed out that Bahrain’s Shia population predates the theory of “Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist” (Wilayat al-Faqih). He also affirmed the continued efforts to purge the security apparatus of those who harm the nation in service of foreign entities that have attacked the Kingdom’s security and safety.
