  • Ongoing tension in the Middle East

Washington, DC – US Senator Lindsey Graham stated that stability in Lebanon and Syria, and peace in Israel, will not be achieved as long as Iran continues to support what he called its “proxies” in the region.

In a press statement, Graham explained that the ongoing tensions

in the Middle East are directly linked to Iranian support for armed groups.

He also asserted that ending this support is a prerequisite for achieving regional stability.

Criticism of Iran’s role in the region

The US senator pointed out that Iran plays a key role in fueling regional conflicts by supporting its armed allies in several countries in the region.

He added that this negatively impacts the security of Lebanon, Syria, and Israel.

He emphasized that the continuation of armed conflicts and border tensions threatens the chances of reaching lasting political settlements.

This also further complicates the security landscape in the Middle East.

Graham called for continued political and economic pressure on Iran to compel it to change its regional policies.

He also called for an end to support for armed groups operating in several countries.

Ongoing tension in the Middle East

He also stressed the importance of international cooperation to maintain regional security and prevent the escalation of military confrontations.

This is especially crucial given the ongoing escalation on multiple fronts.

Graham’s remarks come at a time of heightened security and military tensions in the region,

particularly along the Lebanese-Israeli border. Meanwhile, the unrest in Syria continues.

International and regional actors warn that continued escalation could worsen the humanitarian and security situation.

This comes amidst repeated calls for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic solutions.
