Anticipated security cooperation
In a post on the X platform, the Ukrainian president explained that he had agreed with von der Leyen to move forward with a comprehensive drone deal with the European Union.
Zelenskyy added that he had discussed with the Commission President “the details of this anticipated security cooperation.” This cooperation aims to strengthen defense and technical capabilities in the face of growing aerial challenges. The agreement is seen as a vital step in integrating Ukrainian field experience with European technology and funding. Furthermore, this integration will contribute to the development of more effective unmanned systems.
Ukrainian mission in the Middle East
In a related development, Zelensky revealed that Ukraine’s role in air defense has expanded to include regions outside Europe.
He noted that Ukraine had received a request from the United States for technical and technological support in protecting against Iranian drones in the Middle East region.
The Ukrainian president confirmed that he had issued direct instructions to provide the necessary defensive measures and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists at the relevant sites.
He explained that these experts are capable of providing “the required level of security,” drawing on the extensive experience Ukrainian forces have gained in dealing with drone attacks over the past years. This move comes as Kyiv seeks to solidify its position as a major provider of advanced defense expertise, particularly in drone technology and interception systems, thereby strengthening its security partnerships with Western powers on multiple regional and international issues.
