Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Canada has decided to allocate US$40 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon. This step aims to support relief efforts. Additionally, it will strengthen the capacity of relevant authorities to address the escalating humanitarian challenges in the country, amidst the ongoing economic and social crisis.

Strengthening the humanitarian response

This Canada contribution is part of the international community’s support for Lebanon. The funds will be directed towards essential humanitarian programs, including food security, healthcare, and social protection services. This assistance is expected to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable groups, particularly refugees and low-income families.

Supporting vital sectors

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the funding will help support several vital sectors facing increasing pressure, particularly the under-resourced health sector. It will also support education and emergency relief programs. Moreover, these programs will be implemented in cooperation with international organizations and local partners. This will ensure that aid reaches those who need it most efficiently and transparently.

Emphasis on international partnership

This step reflects Canada continued commitment to supporting Lebanon through its ongoing crises. It underscores the importance of international partnership in addressing humanitarian challenges. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for this support and called on the international community to continue providing assistance. This will contribute to strengthening stability and supporting recovery efforts in the country.
