Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his country’s support for the US move to impose a naval blockade on Iran. This comes as part of escalating pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program and regional activities.
A necessary step to deter Iran
Netanyahu, in remarks carried by Israeli media, asserted that Israel views the American move as a necessary step to deter Iran and prevent it from strengthening its military capabilities. He also indicated that the international community is obligated to take a more decisive stance toward what he described as the “escalating Iranian threat.”
Limiting Tehran’s influence
He added that coordination between Israeli and US continues at various levels, particularly regarding the Iranian issue. He noted that his country will continue to support any efforts aimed at curbing Tehran’s influence in the region.
These statements come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. This coincides with growing warnings of a potential wider confrontation should the escalation between the United States and Iran continue.
