Moscow, Russia – Russian news agencies reported that Rosatom evacuated an additional 198 employees from the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
This comes amid escalating military tensions in Iran.
Ongoing evacuation operations
Reports indicate that the evacuation from the Bushehr nuclear power plant is part of a plan initiated since the outbreak of war in late February.
In this context, the Russian company is reducing its staff at the site as a precautionary measure.
Furthermore, it confirmed that the latest evacuation was pre-planned.
The process was carried out according to established safety procedures.
One employee killed and Bushehr facilities damaged
In the same context, the International Atomic Energy Agency announced the death of
a member of the plant’s security team as a result of shrapnel from a shell.
Additionally, one of the buildings was damaged by the blast wave and shrapnel.
Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev indicated that the deceased employee was an Iranian citizen.
Warnings of dangerous developments
Likhachev confirmed that the situation around the Bushehr nuclear power plant is unfolding according to the “worst-case scenario.”
He also indicated that the company had informed Vladimir Putin of the developments.
These developments reflect the escalating risks surrounding nuclear facilities amid ongoing military operations.
As a result, international concerns about potential security and environmental repercussions are rising.
