Rome, Italy – The Italian government has officially announced its refusal to allow the use of one of its military bases for any potential military operations against Iran. This move reflects Rome’s cautious stance on escalating regional tensions in the Middle East. It comes amidst European calls for de-escalation and the preservation of stability.

Italian official sources stated that the decision is part of a policy to defend national sovereignty and avoid the country’s involvement in conflicts beyond its borders. The sources added that Italy continues to support international diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis without resorting to direct military action.

They clarified that Italian forces will remain committed to defensive and humanitarian missions abroad. However, their bases and facilities will not be used in any offensive operations against Iran. They also emphasized the importance of the European role in reducing tensions and maintaining open channels of dialogue between Washington and Tehran.

This position comes at a time of heightened tensions between Western powers and Iran. There are also concerns about the region sliding towards a wider military confrontation. This underscores the importance of European countries’ role in calming the situation and maintaining diplomatic communication channels.

Observers believe that Italy’s move could serve as a model for other European countries. These countries may avoid direct involvement in military conflicts, focusing instead on diplomatic solutions and easing tensions in a highly sensitive region.
