Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi government, headed by Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, has decided to suspend official working hours in all ministries and public and private institutions next Wednesday and Thursday. The decision comes in celebration of the Iraqi national football team’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup finals.

An official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office said that this decision comes “in appreciation of the national team’s achievement and to bring joy to the hearts of the Iraqi people.” The statement also confirmed that this holiday will allow citizens to participate in the public celebrations taking place in the streets of major Iraqi cities.

The Iraqi national team is preparing to face the challenges of the Qatar World Cup after a remarkable run in the qualifiers. These preparations are taking place amidst an atmosphere of national enthusiasm and public celebrations in Baghdad and other provinces.

Authorities have also called on citizens to adhere to security measures during the celebrations to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, the streets of the capital have been decorated with Iraqi flags and banners supporting the national team.
