Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems detected 20 hostile ballistic missiles and nine drones within its airspace in the past 24 hours. This comes amid ongoing regional tensions.
Intercepting missiles and drones
Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Saud al-Atwan said that air defenses intercepted and destroyed 13 missiles.
Seven missiles landed outside the threat area without posing any danger.
He added that forces also destroyed six drones. This comes as part of ongoing operations to counter aerial attacks.
Fire at Kuwait Airport
Al-Atwan indicated that two drones targeted a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, causing a fire.
Specialized teams responded immediately, and no injuries were reported.
Another drone crashed outside the threat area.
Reports of additional shrapnel and interceptions
In the same context, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior explained that its bomb disposal
teams responded to 43 reports of shrapnel falling during interception operations.
This brings the total number of reports since the escalation began to 550.
Additionally, the National Guard’s “Duty” force shot down one drone
and five other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within its area of responsibility.
This was achieved through coordination between military and security agencies.
