Beirut, Lebanon – Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem announced his categorical rejection of any negotiations with Israel while military operations are ongoing. He asserted that negotiating “under fire” amounts to surrender.
Refusal to negotiate under military pressure
In a televised address delivered on his behalf, Qassem asserted that the option of negotiations
under bombardment and military operations is unacceptable.
He emphasized that any political process must be free from the pressures exerted on the ground.
He added that the group views the continued Israeli attacks
as undermining any possibility of opening genuine channels for negotiation.
A call for national unity
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah called for strengthening national unity within Lebanon,
stressing that the current stage requires internal cohesion to confront security and political challenges.
He indicated that coordination among national forces is essential to counter escalation.
He also affirmed that he is maintaining internal stability amidst rising tensions.
Continuation of military operations
Qassem emphasized that Hezbollah fighters are prepared to continue fighting “without limits,”
indicating that there are no time or field restrictions on military operations.
This escalation in rhetoric coincides with ongoing airstrikes targeting areas in Beirut.
Therefore, it reflects the intensifying confrontation and diminishing prospects for de-escalation in the near future.
