Geneva, Switzerland – On behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, the State of Kuwait welcomed the unanimous adoption by the UN Human Rights Council of
a resolution condemning Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region. It noted the serious human rights repercussions of these attacks.
International consensus on condemnation
Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva,
affirmed that the adoption of the resolution by consensus reflects a shared international understanding of the gravity of these attacks,
particularly with regard to the protection of civilians and infrastructure and ensuring compliance with international law.

He explained that the resolution highlights the direct repercussions of Iranian attacks on the Gulf states and Jordan.
These attacks have resulted in serious damage that has affected individuals’ enjoyment of their fundamental rights.
He also stressed the importance of continuing to monitor this issue within the Council’s purview.
Broad international support
Al-Hain noted that more than 100 countries co-sponsored the draft resolution, reflecting the broad international support it enjoys.
This also underscores a global consensus on the need to address these violations and strengthen international accountability.
Strengthening joint work
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states expressed their desire to build upon this international consensus.
They affirmed their commitment to continued cooperation with various countries
to strengthen the role of the Human Rights Council in addressing relevant issues.
This will support regional stability and protect human rights.
