Beirut, Lebanon – The Council of Arab Health Ministers has approved providing urgent support to the Lebanese health sector. This step comes in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis resulting from the military escalation and the rising number of casualties and injuries in the country.
A statement issued by the Council explained that the support includes the provision of urgent medicines and medical supplies. In addition, the capacity of hospitals and health centers will be strengthened to accommodate the increasing number of injured.
Arab officials affirmed that this initiative comes within the framework of Arab solidarity with Lebanon and support for local efforts to rescue civilians and alleviate their suffering. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination with official bodies and humanitarian organizations to facilitate the delivery of aid to the most affected areas.
This decision comes at a time when the Lebanese health sector is under immense pressure. Displacement and destruction are also increasing in cities and villages, prompting continued international and local calls for urgent support to prevent the collapse of the country’s health system.
