Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli artillery targeted several areas in southern Lebanon this evening. This comes amid ongoing military escalation along the border between the two sides.

Highlights
  • Bombing of southern areas
  • Tensions escalate on the border
  • A state of anticipation prevails in the border villages.

Bombing of southern areas

The agency reported that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the areas of Sadiqin and Jabal al-Batim in the southern sector of the country. This led to chaos and a state of tension and anticipation in the villages and towns near the targeted area.

It added that explosions were heard in a number of surrounding areas. At the same time, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft were flying over the south.

Tensions escalate on the border

This shelling comes amid escalating military tensions on Lebanon’s southern border in recent days. The area has also witnessed intermittent exchanges of fire and shelling between the Israeli army and Hezbollah elements.

There are growing fears of a wider conflict given the rapidly evolving military situation in the region, particularly with the continued exchange of fire between Israel and the Iranian axis in multiple arenas.

A state of anticipation prevails in the border villages.

Local sources reported that the shelling prompted a number of residents of villages near the targeted areas to remain in their homes in anticipation of any new developments on the ground.

The border areas in southern Lebanon are experiencing a state of alert and anticipation. These events come amid warnings of the possibility of continued shelling or an expansion of military operations in the coming hours.
