Washington, DC – In a significant escalation of military rhetoric, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asserted that the United States possesses a decisive military advantage in the ongoing conflict with Iran. He also emphasized that the US administration is fully prepared to wage a prolonged military campaign if necessary.
Reassuring messages regarding strategic reserves
During a press conference held yesterday, Thursday, Higseth dismissed concerns about running out of American ammunition, saying, “We are not running out of ammunition. Our stockpiles of defensive and offensive weapons allow us to sustain this campaign for as long as we need to.” These remarks came as a direct response to criticism and concerns raised by members of the Democratic Party, who recently expressed worry about the enormous rate of ammunition consumption in the current conflict. Higseth considered Iran’s bet on exhausting American capabilities to be “a grave miscalculation by the Revolutionary Guard.”
Special operations: Stealth bombers strike deep inside.
On the ground, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, revealed an unprecedented intensification of airstrikes.
Cooper explained that U.S. forces targeted nearly 200 targets deep inside Iranian territory in the past 72 hours. These strikes included vital sites around the capital, Tehran. Detailing the recent operations, Cooper noted that B-2 stealth bombers conducted intensive raids in the past few hours, dropping dozens of bunker-buster bombs (weighing 2,000 pounds). The strikes also focused on ballistic missile launch facilities hidden in deep underground bunkers and fortifications.
Paralysis in the Iranian navy and a drone carrier caught fire
The strikes were not limited to land targets. Cooper announced heavy losses inflicted on the Iranian navy, confirming the destruction or sinking of more than 30 warships. In a significant development, the US Central Command announced via its “X” platform that it had targeted a massive Iranian drone carrier, comparable in size to aircraft carriers of the World War II era.
The statement confirmed that the carrier was engulfed in flames following the attack. This represents a major blow to Tehran’s ability to conduct drone operations over the Gulf. These developments mark a new phase in the conflict, as Washington, through “power diplomacy” and a show of military might, seeks to compel Tehran to back down. This is occurring amidst ongoing intensive air and naval operations.
