Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced the return of all staff members of the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran to the Kingdom via Azerbaijan.
This was a precautionary measure in light of the rapidly evolving security situation in the region.
In an official statement, the Ministry confirmed that the evacuation was carried out in an organized and safe manner.
It said this was according to meticulous arrangements that ensured the safety of the diplomats and administrative staff.
The statement added that the decision reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to the safety of its personnel abroad.
This is particularly important given the escalating regional tensions.
The move does not mean severing diplomatic relations
She explained that coordination took place at several levels to secure a return route via Azerbaijan,
considered a safe transit point given the restrictions on direct flights.
Furthermore, she noted that the situation is under continuous monitoring and periodic evaluation based on developments.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that this step does not signify
a severing of diplomatic relations, but rather falls within temporary precautionary measures.
In addition, it affirmed the continuation of communication through official channels and the ongoing monitoring of the affairs of Jordanian citizens residing in Iran. The ministry is providing these citizens with necessary guidance.
Increased pace of military confrontations
This move reflects Jordan’s cautious approach to managing foreign relations during crises. This is especially relevant given the widening regional tensions and the escalating military confrontations that have prompted several countries to temporarily relocate their diplomatic missions. Indeed, these relocations are in anticipation of any unforeseen developments.
Observers are waiting to see if other countries will follow suit. This is happening in a regional landscape open to multiple possibilities, ranging from diplomatic de-escalation to further escalation.
