Kathmandu, Nepal – Several people were killed and others injured when a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in a mountainous region of Nepal. The accident has raised the death toll to 47, including both fatalities and injuries. Rescue operations have been complicated by the rugged terrain.

Details of the incident

Local authorities reported that the bus was carrying dozens of passengers when the driver lost control while crossing a narrow mountain road. As a result, the bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine, causing significant casualties.

Difficult rescue operations

Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene of the accident, where they faced significant difficulties due to the mountainous terrain and lack of paved roads. Meanwhile, the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The search for possible survivors continues.

Possible causes

Initial investigations suggest that poor weather conditions and narrow mountain roads may have been the primary causes of the accident. Additionally, a technical malfunction or human error is a possibility. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances.

Frequent accidents

Nepal experiences occasional fatal road accidents due to its rugged mountainous terrain and limited infrastructure. For this reason, authorities frequently call for enhanced safety measures and improved transport networks in remote areas.
