Damascus, Syria – The Ministry of Interior announced that the Prisons and Correctional Facilities Administration has taken control of Al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa Governorate, which was previously under the control of the SDF militia.
The Ministry explained that the Prisons Administration immediately began a thorough and comprehensive review of the prisoners’ conditions, including their personal and legal files, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Specialized teams from the Counter-Terrorism Directorate and other relevant authorities have been formed to assume responsibility for guarding and securing the prison, maintaining order within its walls, and ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed its commitment to continuing to take all necessary measures to consolidate state sovereignty, strengthen the justice system, and guarantee the application of the law in all areas.
