Kabul, Afghanistan – The Afghan Ministry of Interior announced today that a number of people were killed in a powerful explosion in a neighborhood of the capital, Kabul. The blast caused widespread panic among residents, prompting security forces to cordon off the area.

In an official statement, the Ministry said the explosion targeted a busy area. It added that ambulance crews and security forces rushed to the scene immediately. Search and evidence collection operations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and assess the number of casualties.

Authorities confirmed that an urgent investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for the bombing. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, amid fears of escalating violence and attacks targeting civilians.

This explosion comes against a backdrop of a fragile security situation in the Afghan capital. This has reignited fears of a return to deadly attacks that threaten stability and fuel anxiety among the Afghan public.
