Tel Aviv, Israel – The Israeli army announced the killing of a member it said was linked to the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,
in an airstrike it carried out inside Lebanese territory.
Accusing him of planning and overseeing attacks targeting Israel,
in the latest security development on the Lebanese scene.
Terrorist operations against Israel
The Israeli army said in an official statement that the raid resulted
in the death of Hussein Mahmoud Murshed al-Jawhari.
Describing him as “one of the most prominent members of the operations unit of the Quds Force,”
It is the unit responsible for carrying out the external activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The statement added that al-Jawhari played a pivotal role in recent years
in “pushing and directing terrorist operations against Israel.”
Especially in the Syrian and Lebanese arenas, and under the direct supervision of Iranian entities.
Imminent security threats
The army explained that the strike came as part of what it described
as “preemptive measures” to thwart imminent security threats.
He noted that the targeted individual was coordinating hostile
activities originating from Lebanese territory.
Taking advantage of the geographical and security overlap with Syria.
The Israeli announcement came hours after a statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health,
reporting that two people had been killed in an Israeli airstrike.
A car was targeted in the Hermel district, northeast Lebanon, near the Syrian border.
Details of the identity of the two victims
The ministry stated that the two men were killed as a result of a direct attack,
without providing further details about their identities or the nature
of the activity they were carrying out.
This strike brings renewed attention to the continuation
of Israeli military operations inside Lebanon.
This is despite repeated international calls for de-escalation.
Amid fears of a wider confrontation and the region being dragged into a broader escalation,
This comes amid the ongoing tension between Israel and Iran,
and its repercussions on the Lebanese scene.
