Gaza, Palestine – The “Popular Forces” group, which opposes Hamas, announced the death of its leader, Yasser Abu Shabab, during an armed clash in Rafah.
This comes amid conflicting accounts of the circumstances of the incident.
The group accused internal parties of distorting the truth, while Hamas said that
what happened was “a natural fate for those who cooperated with the occupation.”
Without adopting the process.
Abu Shabab, known for his controversial nature and previous accusations of coordinating
with Israeli forces, was a constant source of tension in the southern Gaza Strip.
Especially near the Kerem Abu Salem crossing.
Local authorities accused him of looting aid, while displaced people said his killing was “an expected end”.
The incident deepens the armed division in Gaza and increases the power struggle between the factions.
