Cairo, Egypt – The case of the Egyptians kidnapped in Mali has seen a significant breakthrough. This comes after the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the success of its diplomatic efforts in securing the release of three citizens who had been held captive in recent days.

This development follows intensive efforts. There was coordination between the Malian government and the Egyptian embassy in Bamako, along with ongoing communication between relevant state institutions.

Intensive diplomatic efforts to secure release

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the kidnapping incident was handled around the clock. A special operations room monitored the situation closely, tracking developments moment by moment.

The ministry explained that coordination between the immigration and Egyptian expatriate affairs sectors played a pivotal role in accelerating the release and securing of the three citizens.

The state’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that protecting Egyptians abroad is a national priority. It indicated its continued monitoring of the conditions of Egyptian communities in various countries, particularly in areas experiencing security unrest.

She also stressed that she is constantly working to provide the necessary care and support to Egyptian citizens abroad in order to ensure their safety and protect their rights.

Steps to return them to Cairo

As part of the ongoing follow-up, the ministry indicated that it is currently working to finalize the transfer of the released citizens from remote areas to the Malian capital, Bamako. This is in preparation for their return home.

Coordination is ongoing with financial authorities to ensure their safe transfer. Their families are being kept informed of developments in their health and psychological condition.

A message of reassurance to families and the public.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to communicating with the families of the three citizens, stressing that their safety is a top priority.

Official authorities also called for relying only on information issued by them, in order to avoid the spread of rumors about the kidnapping incident.

The success of this initiative is a significant step. It reflects the strength of Egypt’s foreign policy and its ability to protect its citizens in volatile regions. It also underscores the active role of Egyptian diplomacy in crisis management.
