Moscow, Russia – Russia has declared its full readiness to respond to any US military action against Venezuela. It affirmed that it will not allow its strategic ally in Latin America to be destabilized.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow is “following with concern the hostile statements emanating from certain American circles.” It emphasized that any attack targeting Venezuela “will not go unanswered.” The ministry clarified that Russia has political and military obligations toward Caracas and is prepared to take “necessary measures” to protect Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
These statements come after reports of potential US preparations to impose “strict measures” on the government of Nicolás Maduro. This is happening amid escalating disputes over energy issues and Russian influence in the region.
Observers believe the Russian warning carries a dual message for Washington. First, it is a defense of its Venezuelan ally. Second, it is a confirmation that Moscow is capable of projecting deterrence beyond its borders. This comes at a time when the arenas of confrontation between the two powers are becoming increasingly intertwined, from Ukraine to Latin America.
