Cairo, Egypt – Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, said that he feels happy and proud as an Egyptian citizen before being responsible for the Egyptian government,
Because today we are all witnessing a unique and exceptional event in every sense of the word,
which is the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said in a press conference held on Saturday evening:
This is the dream that was on all our minds and in our imagination,
We wondered: Will we actually see this dream come true, be implemented,
and witness the opening of this global edifice as a gift to the whole world,
from a country whose history dates back more than 7000 years?
A country that contains a mixture of all the civilizations that have passed through the history of humanity;
Therefore, today is a day of pride and honor for me as the head of government,
and I am witnessing this celebration with you.
The idea of creating the Grand Egyptian Museum
Prime Minister added: Let us recall, as we witness today the opening of this great edifice,
the idea of its creation, which dates back about 30 years.
At that time, preliminary procedures began by the Egyptian state through several technical studies.
This included holding an international competition to select a specific museum design,
The state then began implementation steps, but the construction of
this project went through a period of suspension,
as a result of the circumstances that Egypt went through starting from 2011.
Then came the directive of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic,
regarding the necessity of completing this project in the best possible way,
and in the best manner that presents Egypt’s civilized image.
Greetings to everyone who participated in this global project
In this context, the Prime Minister said: I would like to assure all Egyptians that
when the wheels of work on this project started turning again,
Only a very small and minor percentage of what was actually accomplished on the ground.
Therefore, it can be said that the largest part of the construction,
finishing, and production of this global edifice
This is how it has happened in the past seven or eight years.
Therefore, once again I extend my greetings to everyone who participated in this “global project,”
in every sense of the word.
Starting with the person who launched the idea,
and including everyone who participated in all the implementation steps,
Leading up to our celebration today together of the opening of this great global landmark,
Which Egypt presents to the world for the second and third time
as a symbol of the civilization of this ancient and great country.
